frequently Asked Questions
FAQ
How should I dispose of old clogged dryer vent piping?
If your dryer vent pipe is clogged, consider hiring a professional to clean or replace it. However, if you prefer DIY, take it to a local recycling center if it’s made of metal. If it’s flexible plastic or foil, you may need to throw it away with regular trash, as it can’t always be recycled. Be sure to double-check with your local waste facility.
Who cleans dryer vents?
Ideally, you can hire a local Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician. Due to local codes and ordinances, sometimes it’s best to hire a professional, even if the task seems simple. Some HVAC companies, handymen, or maintenance companies also offer this service but ensure they’re certified.
How long can a dryer vent be?
Dryer vents should be no longer than 35 feet, but this length can vary depending on the type of dryer and the vent materials. For each bend or turn in the pipe, it’s best to reduce the maximum length by about 5 feet.
How much does dryer vent cleaning cost?
Dryer vent cleaning costs can range greatly due to the vent material, length of the vent, location of the vent and termination (exit point), and overall condition of the vent system. We take pride in offering our customers the best service available at a reasonable price.
Do electric dryers need a vent?
Yes, most electric dryers need a vent to release hot, moist air outside. Not venting your electric dryer to the outside of your home could result in mold growth, which could cause health and potentially structural issues. However, there are some ventless models, like condenser or heat pump dryers, that don’t require a vent.
How often should dryer vents be cleaned?
Dryer vents should be cleaned at least once a year to prevent clogs and reduce fire risk. If you use your dryer frequently, you might need to clean it more often.
